Background
Uiimu is an artist based in Hong Kong. After years of practicing law, she returned to art, drawn by how it can inspire new thoughts and perspectives. Her early training in fashion design instilled in her a sensitivity to form, texture, and visual expression, making her transition back to the art world both intuitive and fulfilling.
Her work is informed by a habit of noticing details. How things change, what gets left behind, and the quiet marks people make on their surroundings. Through painting, she questions memory and time, focusing on what’s overlooked or easily lost. Her work explores the spaces between what is seen and what is felt, drawing inspiration from both the visible beauty of nature and the invisible layers of human reality. Her artistic process — layering and subtracting — reflects topics of survival and extinction, suggesting that much like in nature, what disappears leaves a lingering presence in memory. Her aim is to encourage viewers to observe and reflect on the subtle, fleeting traces that connect us to moments and to each other.
